I am a wife and a mother, a daughter and a granddaughter. Here recorded are trugars–true stories–from the life and history of my great-grandmother, and my life and history as I write a book about her.
You probably want to know more than that though, so I’ll give you a little background.
I am the eldest of five children, grew up on 27 acres in North Florida, and was homeschooled for all but 2nd and 3rd grade. I graduated from college with a degree in Piano Pedagogy and a degree in Creative Writing, married the love of my life (a Northerner *gasp!*), and starting thinking about becoming a mommy myself. My husband joined the Marines after we had been married a year and a half, served five and a half years, and has successfully re-entered the civilian sector. We have four lovely children, ages 7, 5, 3, and 11 months.
“Big Mommy” was the name coined for my great-grandmother, and she was the matriarch of my family. She was born on September 21st, 1909, and went home to be with Jesus on November 25th, 2009, at just over 100 years of age. I am so grateful for the precious memories she shared with me.
